So we started the year by celebrating Burns Night which is the annual celebratory tribute to the life, works and spirit of the great Scottish Poet, Robert Burns (1759 - 1796). The event is celebrated throughout Scotland on Jan 25th usually with a Burns supper and plenty of whiskey.... As you can imagine HR are not wild about us opening up the place on a a Sunday (neither are the staff actually) and we are certainly not allowed to drink whiskey on the premises so we did it in our own little way!
Burns day was celebrated by staff at Sidhil on Friday 30th January and instead of Whiskey we had Iron Bru and our Burns feast consisted of home made shortbread and Scottish tablet (see recipe below!). We also had a Scottish quiz - Prize see you Jimmy hat, and a raffle - Prize bottle of posh whiskey!!
We raise an impressive £88.00. Thanks to everyone that took part!!
Make your own Scottish Tablet!!
